Protect Pipes From Freezing This Winter

Freezing pipes are a concern for homeowners when temperatures dip below freezing, the risk that pipes will freeze rises. Should a pipe burst, the damage that results can be extensive and costly. Always remember to winterize by draining water from swimming pools, water sprinkler supply lines, close the water valves that feed outdoor spigots, open cabinet doors to spaces that may not be insulated or heated and consider wrapping the pipes with insulation, maintain a consistent thermostat temperature inside the home, problems can arise if the temperature inside a home drops below 55 degrees, open one faucet when it is particularly cold, especially at night, let water slowly drip from one faucet to prevent freezing, and increase insulation around where pipes enter the house.
